Big news: I changed the name from IRL KEL to Switch.
I’ve been noticing a theme that comes up in my life that is basically universal experience – Change. Transition. Switch. Breakups, layoffs, relocations. And my personal favorite: quitting. It’s from these moments that we set out to do something new with our lives.

After the big decision or forced action - there’s days and weeks and months ahead where you’re trying to figure out what is next.
I’ve talked some about how I am not a great strategist – I allow whatever I’m obsessed about to guide me to the next venture. Over and over again.
I keep thinking on this theme of change and how everyone adapts in their own way. Making change or being thrown change – people take small steps to the next thing.
Some strategy work
This week I sat down and extensively studied the 6-part Substack series on how to grow your newsletter (which is extremely helpful). I dug into the first 3.
Set Personal Goals
Publication Strategy
Design and Format
Here’s the one liner:
Switch brings together curious people that are doing something new so we can share our experiences and learn from each other.
Using their questions to guide me I came up with a pretty O.K strategy for Switch using Substack’s framework.
Who does your writing/content bring together?
Curious people figuring out stuff, in transitional moments - changing careers, moving across the world, biking across Africa, or starting a company.
Why will people rally around your writing?
People are looking to get the most out of life, experience life – they will find inspiration and likeminded people while reading
Who do you want to bring together?
Driven people looking for more. Interested in bettering self, getting the most out of life, doing the unexpected, not settling. Gritty and interested in the world and meeting new people.
Why do they want to come together?
Want to see stories about others doing new things, how they made the decision to change. Share stories and resources with each other
Curious People Doing Things
I did this strategy work (and a bit of the design) – and started also to collect stories I saw on TikTok of people experiencing or experienced (and came out the other side) big life changes. Recent inspirational people I learned about –
🚴🏻♂️ Ride with Ian (now on Substack!) Ian recently completed a solo cycling tour across Africa from south to north. One of the most underrated TikTok’s out there, Ian started a Substack to share his planning and upcoming trek across Australia. I’m not sure what Ian’s backstory is, but would love to hear more from him on what propels him.
🕯Chaweon Koo with half a million followers following her talk on witchcraft and human design. Chaweon left her NYC banking job (and toxic relationship) to travel to South Korean to teach English. It was there that she experienced a kut, Korean Shamen Ritual which changed her trajectory. She’s back in NYC and a practicing witch.
Poll: Tell me what you think
I mused, here are two extremely interesting people. What if I started a newsletter, or series profiling people’s experiences navigating big life changes and challenges.
I’m also a Libra rising and also thought maybe I don’t want to overthink anything right now and just let things flow. Sounds like the best strategy for me.
In the meantime, thanks for reading and giving me space to explore whatever may come. No commitments!
All that to request your thoughts – please take this poll!
