I believe writing down what you want – in life or in love – will help manifest it into existence. The action of writing down an idea or a vision was one of the early principles of Lex (back when it was Personals Instagram). It’s a conjuring. And it all feels more magical if you use an actual inky pen to paper.
The directives below are provided by Liz Tran in her book, The Karma of Success.
Her writing, podcasts and coaching sessions helped me so much this year. 💚
What do you want your life to be like in 5 years time? Where do you want to live? What do you want to enjoy? Who do you want to be with you?
Below are the 5 steps I took to create my 5 year vision:
Write down the age you’ll be.
Take some quiet space and time to think
Completely envision this destination, your life at age ❌
Think big, give details. No holding back.
Write it down in your journal and bookmark it. You’ll want to come back to it.
Write down the numbers you want in your bank account 💵, the vegetables you want growing in your garden 🥬, the location you are summering in 🌊, the idea that you can ‘summer’ or ‘winter’ as a verb 🕶.
Liz instructs to flag the page and come back to it, in 6 months, a year, 2 years and edit, checkin and notate. ✏️
This August while in glamping in Montana, surrounded by mountains in a comfy chair around the fire pit, I set out to visualize what my life could be like in 5 years time. I’m sharing my vision below. For some reason I think publishing it on the internet will make me more accountable and double up on the manifesting energy.
Kell’s Visualization 4️⃣ 9️⃣
Living happily full-time in the Hudson Valley. We have a vegetable garden, hot tub, sauna. In the garage are bikes, snowboard, cross country skis, snow blower, gardening tools, zero turn lawn mower. I build a nice sized pantry in the basement.
I am active. Both in summer and winter. Long bike rides, hikes, x-country skiing and snowboard trips are the norm each winter weekend. I’m outside for hours. I help with gardening, too. Mow the lawn.
In the winter I travel to California or tropical islands for at least a month.
I have muscles. Arms and thighs are strong. I don’t wear glasses, care of Lasik surgery. I get facials, reiki, and meditate. Massages on the regular. I’m also practicing yoga. daily stretching.
I have a truck. Toyota Tacoma with a built in sleeper camper. We do road trips and camp. I take fire making, survival classes.
I have a consistent art practice, design.
I am confident. I give talks. I find a sweet balance of social media with boundaries. Use it to connect but not ‘on it’ doomscrolling.
I go to the library and read books. I write every day. I sit at a desk to work on a blue yoga ball.
I do something to give back to the community. Mentor teens, workshops.
I love my house. It’s in architecture / design magazines.
Lex is wildly successful. [details withheld]
I feel very strong and confident, I let go of the wobbly.
I wrote a book. [details needed]
Finally have more clarity and have established my work/career identity as an interesting, smart, creative, loving person. [details needed]
I am giving. I am thankful. I have found peace in my work and accomplishments.
I don’t hide or put only half of myself ‘in’. I give my all. Trust my intuition and ideas.
I am proud. I am not scared of people, their thoughts about me or their criticisms. I embrace all sides, I have found peace.
Marina and I are a happy family. We have Mishka, a garden, relaxed times. We host old friends and new friends. Marina and I bike together, garden, attend art openings, eat nice food and wine, travel, cook, love.
I am happy, content, calm, proud, and healthy. I have money and am financially secure. I can walk into Marni when they are having a big sale and buy anything I want without stress.
I feel like the whole world is available to me. Excited for the future and new opportunities.
