and at least one goal! 🌟
Let's start with this: Strategy is overrated. What works for me is the freedom to explore and discover what truly interests me. I built an entire company without a formal strategy – driven purely by passion and my unique interests, which resonated with others.
However, this wild-horse passion needs boundaries. Especially during career transitions, when the lack of a full-time job can lead to aimless days. The dream of total freedom can quickly become overwhelming.
That's why I've created a 100-day action plan, using AI to help structure my days. I want guardrails that allow my creativity to flourish while maintaining focus. This approach lets me pursue ideas that interest me without wasting time deciding what to work on each day. It's the perfect balance of structure and creative freedom during this transitional period in my career.

My 100-Video Journey
I'm currently undertaking a 100-video TikTok challenge, experimenting with various formats. This structure provides both freedom and a timeline to explore what works best for me. As I'm not comfortable on camera, I've been focusing on voiceovers and experimental video editing.
I use AI to brainstorm ideas, generate content for my Substack, and create thought-provoking questions. This approach gives me space to play and removes the pressure of daily perfection. I'm halfway through, at video 50/100.
I've set a clear endpoint: if TikTok isn't working for me by video 100, I'll pivot to other platforms and mediums. Despite my fondness for TikTok, I'm struggling to find my audience there, with views often capped at 200.
Interestingly, following advice from Courtney Johnson (who inspired this challenge), I've been cross-posting to Instagram Reels. The results are striking:
* TikTok: 3,150 views, 190 likes 😩
* Instagram Reels: 90K views, 3.3K likes 🔥
While I aspired to success on TikTok, it seems Instagram might be my true home. This challenge has taught me the value of experimentation and the importance of a defined endpoint. It's comforting to have a deadline - a day to conclude and assess the results.
Overcoming Obstacles
Don't let perfectionism or the 100-day commitment intimidate you. Those days will pass anyway, so why not use them productively? Tailor the plan to your needs - perhaps 15 minutes a day, Monday to Friday. Use simple checklists to maintain consistency, like my basic 100 TikTok video list. For focus, I use music or podcasts as background noise. Everyone has different methods; my former colleague worked with multiple screens and inputs simultaneously. Find what works for you.
The Power of This Approach
Within the structure of checklists and productivity charts lies the freedom for your creativity to flourish. Make your goal-oriented journey fun and engaging. If you're not interested, you won't stick with it, so keep it fascinating! You have the flexibility to modify your plan. If after a week, medium-priority tasks are neglected, adjust. Use AI to help reprioritize, always keeping your main goal in focus. Remember, you're in charge - make the system work for you, but don't become overly rigid about it. The key is finding the right balance between structure and creative freedom. Be a dork about it, flip open that computer and get to it!
Conclusion
Dreams are beautiful, but without focus, they often remain just that - dreams. This 100-day action plan is your tool to bridge the gap between imagination and reality. It provides the structure you need to channel your creative energy into tangible progress, without stifling your spirit.
As a dreamer, you have the vision. Now, you have the means to bring that vision to life. This plan isn't about limiting your creativity; it's about giving it direction. It's about turning your "what ifs" into "what's next."
