It’s boring. It’s outdated (debatable). It’s a career necessity for nearly everyone.
A typical résumé contains a summary of relevant job experience and education. The résumé is usually one of the first items, along with a cover letter and sometimes an application for employment, which a potential employer sees regarding the job seeker and is typically used to screen applicants, often followed by an interview. – Wikipedia
✏️ Speaking on design – what I love about resumés
it’s universal - everyone has a general idea of what one looks like
it’s brief – 1 letter size page
it’s centered on typography - no pics
I am drawn to text-only concepts (see personal ads, see Lex). It makes sense my next obsession is the resume. There’s something grounding listing out (embellished) ✨facts✨ on a page.
In terms of how a resumé represents a life, even a professional life, it falls short. It does not account for actual living and its hardships. The complications and relationships. It’s a one-pager that flattens your career into a digestible format.
My own professional path is unruly with stumbles. There’s been breaks, there’s been colleges dropped, there’s been part-time roles while I work on mental health. There’s splotches. There’s aging. There’s a fair share of glory.
I have gone down some internet holes and dug into some advice from Greg L. –Career Coach on TikTok mixed with Notion templates which blossomed into my own version of the perfect resumé (IMO). Try out this free Notion template I designed. She’s a beaut.

Meanwhile, let’s celebrate the unusual decisions of these job seekers.
I kinda love them.
