Publish like a zine is a great one; and let time be your editor. So often I look back and see that thing I created in an hour of furious energy the day before is actually pretty good.
Corita is such an inspiration. I’ve been a long admirer of her, her work, and her philosophy around play/work and teaching. Her art department rules were the first thing I hung up in my new creative studio. Love that you created your own 10 rules, I might think about what my 10 would be.
oh i love that idea, make your own 10! so cool you have that rules hanging in your studio, definitely something to keep front and center of mind while making
#3 and #6 walk hand in hand for me and I will apply this to my ceramics from now on. My work is no longer as creative as it used to be and as someone who's now working in the public field as a non-native speaker, I feel like #7 combined with people always having three looks over everybody's work is my natural way of working these days and it's liberating. I'll try to apply #4 more often as I feel that's what will get you out of a rut if you just keep on doing it. Inspiring work, Kel!
I really resonate with #4 and #9 - this feels so me. #6 is the rule I want to break, because if the project isn't going right I immediately want to toss it.
As someone who leans Type A, it's so refreshing to hear this and give myself permission not to try to perfect what I'm writing the very first go-around!
I love your newsletter so much!
Thanks!

truly - it's always like that. it's never as bad as you think -- just give yourself some time and fresh eyes

Love rule 2! Anticipating the need to escape makes it way easier to manage it when it happens 😏
