I love a new year. Fresh starts, blank slates, big dreams, new notebooks.
I’ve never been a great goal setter. I have been an excellent dreamer and accomplisher, which is the same thing without all the measurements and pressures.
This is the year, the season, the month, for the first time ever I will set Goals!
I’ll incorporate some startup culture into my personal life. I have two overarching goals for 2024. Every month and every season (aka. quarter) I will break down each into smaller bites. My goals are straightforward: muscles + money. Don’t @ me.
Start with Goals for Winter 2024. Break it down further and focus only on January.

This being my first time setting SMART goals I made sure to center big juicy NUMBERS. I do have fear of numbers (self diagnosed with dyscalculia) and the reason I went to art school (can’t pass high school level math exams). Here I am in 2024 embracing the numerals.
There’s other bits besides 💪 and 💰 that I will continue to infuse into my daily routine that will help me focus and stay grounded while moving through 2024.
I’ve mentioned in a previous post Put Your Phone Down my new nighttime routine that includes reading library books, essential oils, and tea. Little actions like this can help you feel good about yourself and will lead to a brighter year.
The practice of writing daily and then publishing weekly to Substack has been another excellent grounding routine for me as I push into this year where the unknown awaits. Anything you can do to keep yourself calm and cared for – helps propel the determination you will need to achieve these dreams, this goals. The small actions like taking an hour lunch away from your computer for a walk, a sit down meal - all add up to make a better life and a stronger you. Speaking from experience as someone who did the opposite and suffered the consequences. Whoops.
